Read Brad Karp in Fortune How Owning a Gun Won't Keep You Safe

It's a myth. That is, that gun ownership is self-protection.

That's what the two lawyers who co-founded the Firearms Accountability Counsel Taskforce discuss in an opinion piece in Fortune. They are Brad Karp and Christopher Boehning.

They finger an innovative way for the mindset to change. That's for the FTC to halt the gun industry from putting out there deceptive and misleading advertising that guns make us safer.

It's worth a try.  Not much has worked to deal with the reality that guns are taking so many lives.

Meanwhile, there is actually well-meaning pressure to buy a gun for protection. Here in Arizona, an open-carry state, my neighbors consider me reckless for not having a gun.
