Money Isn't Everything, Not Even If It's $2,465 P/H
According to the Thomson Reuters Institute and Georgetown University Law Center, the average hourly for lawyers is $533, reports Reuters Legal.
But some lawyers are doing quite a bit better than that p/h, Reuters Legal adds. They are:
David Boies - Boies Schiller - $1,950
Kannon Shaumugan - Paul Weiss - $1,824
Neal Katyal - Hogan Lovells - $2,465.
But there are other kinds of "compensation," beyond monetary. Last night Johnny Depp "liked" my Tweet about Camille Vasquez:

The Vasquez Effect. In the tradition-bound law firm industry the torch has been passed to a new generation. Just like the OJ Simpson murder trial changed so much so has the Johnny Depp defamation one.
Star Power in Law Firms Passes to a New Generation (and associate rank): Camille Vasquez
In addition, this morning, Depp contacted me more directly:

When I was in my early 40s I got a bee in my bonnet to leave my communications career path and enroll in Harvard Law School. Soon enough as a 1L I circled back to communications. Received an offer when I was miserable at Harvard Law to ghostwrite a series of books on regulation. I have never looked back. There is such a high in spotting a good story and telling it. The Depp defamation trial has been a very good story. And, it's not over. In the history of the legal sector, it may never be over.
