Law Firms Can't Just Practice Law Anymore

"Pat Casey, son of popular Pennsylvania Senator and Governor Bob Casey, has joined Dentons Global Advisors as a partner in its government relations unit." - O'Dwyer's Public Relations, June 6, 2022.

A lawyer, Casey has more than three decades of experience in commercial litigation. And, he's a politico. In 1998, he ran for Congress in PA - but lost.

Dentons Global Advisors is an example of how law firms are developing profit-center consulting arms beyond the traditional legal work.  As The Wall Street Journal reported, that's a must. There are two drivers. One, clients are demanding comprehensive business services - not just legal guidance. And, two, there is growing competition from the Big Four accounting firms. Their edge is that they already have clients for their auditing services. Then they can cross-sell them their legal ones.

Recently to Dentons Global Advisors has been added a public affairs network. That is a platform which makes accessible top public relations firms around the world to clients.
