Dr. Oz's Political Genius: Understanding It's the Post-Oprah Era (skip the bubble baths)

For amazingly long the Oprah ideology of sweetness and light (along with bubble baths) functioned as the sun god. To survive, all eyes had to turn to it.

That was then. And it hadn't been then for some years. With the exception of Oprah Winfrey's interview with The Royal Brats that presence has been absent.

More and more success primarily depends on picking up early on transitions. Dr. Oz obviously has that talent. Bloomberg details how he created the media strategy for his run for the US Senate in Pennsylvania. That had been based on what might be labeled The Non Oprah. He shifted to the ethos of combat. The messaging embraced the far right's attempt to clean up Amerian values. That would take a war. The generals, such as Sean Hannity, were overseeing the battles from Fox News. There Oz became a regular guest.

Part of the war strategy for Oz was the theatre of the feud. He became skilled at positioning and packaging an enemies list. On it had been Dr. Fauci. A weapon was Twitter to transmit the battle cries.

And there was also the magic. On his former televsion show Oz had displayed his belief in supposed miracle cures. In some circles those play well. They conjure up hope. Give people hope and they will attach to you.

There is much to learn from Oz's media playbook. No, you don't have to be a conservative to apply the lessons.
