"Binance on Wednesday named Joshua Eaton, a former Deputy U.S. Attorney in the Northern District of California, as the deputy general counsel of the world's largest cryptocurrency exchange." - Reuters Legal, May 11, 2022.

The digital asset industry is now known for using the revolving door. As regulatory scrutiny beefs up it is hiring those who understand how government operates and how things play out Inside the Beltway. That's for roles ranging from in-house legal to lobbying.

Binance has been experiencing legal challenges. In March 2022 it won a dismissal in "Anderson, et al. v Binance, et al." After purchasing tokens in 2017 that had lost their value investors filed a lawsuit in 2020 contending insufficient warning about the risks involved. They also claimed the exchange violated securities law by selling unregistered tokens and not registering as a broker-dealer. A major piece of the ruling had to do with the statute of limitations.

At Binance, Eaton will oversee global compliance, investigations, and law enforcement.
