So, What It Take to Make Partner at Law Firm Hogan Lovells ...

Here is the short version of what it takes to make partner at Hogan Lovells: Sustainability of 2,400 hours annually. That's what the law firm's Chief Executive Officer Miguel Zaldivar Jr. told Law.com.

The longer version is this. The number of billable hours is 1,700. The rest of the hours get metered up through:

Training

Knowledge Management

Pro Bono

Pastoral Care

DEI

Contribution to the Law Firm Culture.

That's the way the law firm does it now. The CEO did admit that in the old days making partner really entailed a tap on the shoulder by a power player.

However, let's not be naive. One wonders how much personal politics might figure in with decisions about partnership.
