Cravath's 3rd Brandname Departure in Short Time - Didn't It Hear What Paul Weiss Chairperson Brad Karp Was Predicting about Star Power?

Now it's dealmaker Jenny Hochenberg who exited Cravath for Freshfields in New York. There she joins another star who had departed Cravath - Damien Zobeck. Some will recall that recently Allison Wein left Cravath for Kirkland & Ellis. Here are more details from Bloomberg Law.

Three, goes the old saying in my field of public relations, makes a trend. We might posit that Cravath has become a poaching target. Not that it will evolve into the "Next Boies Schiller," which has been experiencing long-term partner flight. But it could be in a weakened condition. Growth could be more difficult.

It was in an October 2021 Bloomberg Law interview that Paul Weiss Chairperson Brad Karp essentially declared the law-firm sector bifurcated. There are those with star power and the resources to bring more twinklers in and to retain them. Those firms will grow. In contrast there are law firms which can't afford star power. They are likely to wither.

The topic in legal media is the intensity of the current poaching of the big brandnames and brandname groups. Those are the firms to watch for making the news which counts.
